This idea has been shown in many movies before, usually as a subplot but we have seen it. Still it has potential depending on how the specifics of the characters and the situation could develop.

This probably does not need to be a blended genre of both drama and comedy, it could focus on one or the other, trying to do both might create very different choices across the scenes and the overall intent of the story might be confusing to the audience – you don’t want to pull them back and forth too quickly in a short film. But of course this depends on what the writer(s) intends to write.
