Write for Humaniti!
We believe that everyone should have access to clean water, food, shelter and opportunities for education and growth, and that those rights must be met in order for a society to flourish and prosper. We also believe that those of us with an abundance must help those less fortunate, and through collective action, we have the ability to fulfil our obligations to one another.
There is no better way to raise awareness, ignite our compassion, and motivate action than through stories that shed light on the suffering of others. That is why Humaniti, a grassroots Canadian relief and development organization, has partnered with Open Screenplay to bring you this important contest. We are looking for stories that can be dramatized to bring attention to those in need, particularly in countries and locations where Humaniti currently provides relief efforts (see list below).
This contest is free to participate in. Just be sure to review the contest guidelines and start writing! THERE ARE 23 TOTAL PRIZES to be won, and you can win more than once, plus a chance to HAVE YOUR STORY PRODUCED!

* License fee is for Story Concept Only. Should a screenplay be commissioned from the winning writer, additional compensation to be negotiated in accordance with customary industry parameters.
Contest Mini-Rules
This contest is open to all registered users of Open Screenplay. Contest begins on June 1st, 2022 at 12:00 AM (ET) and ends on October 1st, 2022 at 11:59 PM (ET). There are a total of six (6) prizes available to be won as follows: one (1) First Prize consisting of a license fee cash award of CDN $500, and in Contest Partner’s sole discretion, the option of production, five (5) Runner Up Prizes consisting of a license fee cash award of CDN $100. This Contest is open to Open Screenplay Members, excluding residents of Quebec, Canada, who are 13 years of age or older at the time of entry (parental or guardian consent required if entrant is under the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry). Odds of winning depend on number and quality of eligible entries received before contest closes. Limitations apply. See full rules and entry details.

START a new Story Concept: simply sign in to Open Screenplay and click START >> Story Concept on the main menu. Choose Write For Humaniti! to enter your Story Concept into the competition. The Story Concept must be completed on openscreenplay.com.
Chance for Further Consideration
Winning writers may be commissioned to turn their story concepts into screenplays for further compensation to be negotiated with buyers/producers in accordance with customary industry parameters. The Story Concept must be original and must be written on www.openscreenplay.com.
